Privacy notice
This notice sets out what we collect, why, and for how long.
Who we are
BOHOjobs is the controller of the personal data described here. You can contact us at bohojobs@outlook.com.
What we collect and why
Job alerts
If you create a job alert, we store your email address, the specialism and location you chose, and the date and time you gave consent. We use these to send your weekly alert. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw through the link in every email.
Monthly careers email
If you subscribe, we store your email address and the time you subscribed, and use them to send the email. Our lawful basis is your consent.
Employer enquiries
If you send the post-a-job form, we store your name, work email, organisation and the details you provide, to reply to you and set up your listing. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
Applications
We do not handle applications. When you choose to apply, you leave BOHOjobs for the employer’s or advertiser’s own website, and their privacy notice applies.
Our recruiters
Before you leave for an application, you can ask us to keep your details on file. If you tick the box, we store your email address, your CV if you add one, the job you were viewing, and the time and wording of your consent. Our in-house recruiters use these to email you relevant jobs and to put you forward to employers for roles, which means sharing your CV with those employers. Our lawful basis is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us, and we then delete your details.
Saved jobs
Saved jobs are stored in your browser’s local storage on your own device. The list is sent to our server only when you open the saved jobs page, so that we can show those roles, and it is not kept.
Visitor statistics
We count page views with Vercel Web Analytics, provided by our hosting provider. It sets no cookies. For each page view it records the page address, the site you came from, your approximate location (country, region and city), and your browser, operating system and device type. Visitors are told apart for up to 24 hours using an anonymous hash of the request, which is then discarded, so the statistics cannot follow you from one day to the next or across other websites, and they are not linked to your IP address, your alerts or your CV. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used.
Server logs
Our hosting provider records technical information such as IP address and browser type for security and to keep the service running. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website.
What we do not do
- We do not use advertising trackers, and our visitor statistics set no cookies and do not follow you across websites.
- We do not sell or share your data for marketing.
- We do not keep or share your CV unless you have ticked the box asking us to.
Who processes data for us
We use a hosting provider to serve the website and a database provider to store alert subscriptions, enquiries and CVs. They act on our instructions under contract. Some of this processing may take place outside the UK, in which case appropriate safeguards are in place.
How long we keep it
- Alert and newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe, then deleted within 30 days.
- Details kept for our recruiters, including CVs: 12 months from the day you gave them, or sooner if you ask us to delete them.
- Employer enquiries: 12 months after our last contact, unless you become a customer.
- Server logs: up to 30 days.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict its use, and withdraw consent at any time. Email us and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
